Social Events

The Alderwood Teddy Bares have a few social events they conduct each year including a summer barbeque, a Christmas party and Sports Day. We also hold Pizza Night at the local pizzeria every first Wednesday of the month after practice.

Sports Day

For over 25 years, an annual event for the Teddy Bares has been Sports Day, held at a cottage on Lake Simcoe. Teammates can bring along family members and friends to join in the full day of competition, food and fun. Events include an open-water swim, run/walk, cycle, horseshoes, basketball and an obstacle course. Competitors young and old score points for their success in each event. A unique log trophy recognizes the winner of the day.

Athletic events don't take up all of the day. There is time to relax, have fun on the waterfront and share in three meals. We look forward to a sunny and warm summer day once again this year..

Summer Barbeque

Each summer before our summer schedule begins we celebrate another successful swimming year with our annual summer barbeque. It is held at the home of a swim team member - pot luck plus a small contribution towards meat for the barbeque. Team awards are given out by our coach...always fun to get together and actually talk for more than a few words between breaths before the next set!

Christmas Party

Each year the team gets together to celebrate the holidays gathering once again at a team member's home. Everyone is jolly...Father/Mother Christmas makes an appearance and insists on each of us sitting on "her" knee. This past Christmas instead of giving each other anonymous $5 gifts we decided on each donating a hygeine product to a health care facility.

Pizza Night

On the first Wednesday of each month members of the Teddy Bares cross the road to our local pizza restaurant to gobble up a delicious meal of pizza and beverages after practice. A good way to get to know new members and share bad jokes and gossip with old.
